Get to Know the 2014 GMC Terrain SLT

Even if you know that you want to drive a 2014 GMC Terrain, you will still have several important decisions to make, including which trim to go with. There are several trims available, including the SLE, SLT, and the Denali.

The Denali is a specialty option that you won’t always find listed as one of the trims, which puts the SLT in place as the highest trim level. It is an excellent trim with a range of features and a high-quality engine.2014 GMC Terrain Hiawatha

2 Trims

The very first thing to understand about the 2014 GMC Terrain SLT is that this actually includes two trim levels, the SLT-1 and the SLT-2. These two trims are fairly similar in nature, but the SLT-2 does have several additional features, such as Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Alert, both of which are standard on the SLT-2 but optional on the SLT-1.

Both of the SLT sub-trims, the SLT-1 and the SLT-2, give you the option of AWD or FWD, depending on personal preferences. This decision is up to you based on the type of driving you do and whether you plan on heading off road in your 2014 GMC Terrain.

The SLT trim comes standard with the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, but the 3.6-liter V6 engine is an optional upgrade. The standard engine is good enough for most people with 182 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque, but if you would like additional power (such as to help with carrying heavier cargo or pulling a small trailer), the 3.6-liter V6 engine has 301 horsepower and 272 pound-feet of torque.

Extra Features

As mentioned, the 2014 GMC Terrain SLT is the highest or middle trim level (depending on whether or not the Denali is included). As such, it has some additional features that you won’t find in either the SLE-1 or the SLE-2. The SLT-1 comes with the extra features of seating in perforated leather that includes heated front seats as well as a remote vehicle start.

When you go with the SLT-2, you will not only get the Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Alert mentioned above, but you will also get a universal home remote, Rear Park Assist, the Chrome Package for exterior appearance, a power programmable lift gate, sunroof, and memory settings for the outside rearview windows as well as the driver seat.

The best way to get to know the 2014 GMC Terrain SLT is to actually see one in person and take it out for a test drive. The staff at Pat McGrath GMC in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, can help you with this and will even help you decide whether the SLT-1 or SLT-2 better fits your needs.
