Electric Cadillac ELR Make First Appearance

Many all-new vehicles are unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, but one car in particular is getting a large amount of attention.

The Cadillac ELR, the first car with extended electric capabilities to be created by a full luxury brand, was shown to the press and other onlookers at a special event.

The 2014 not only has eco-minded people swooning over the car’s extended range of over 300 miles, it also has car enthusiasts and Cadillac loyalists raving about the gorgeous design that stays true to Cadillac roots.

It may have the technology of a 21st century electric car, but there’s no mistaking the ELR’s Cadillac heritage, even without seeing the shining logo on the grille.

“ELR is an unprecedented combination of luxury, advanced engineering and progressive design in a coupe that is both sporty and environmentally friendly,” said Bob Ferguson, Cadillac global vice president. “This is a pivotal moment in Cadillac’s history, as we continue our product-driven expansion.”

Day-to-day driving will be completely emissions free, while long drives will feature a seamless transition from the range extended gas-powered engine generator. The 2014 ELR will have around 295 lbs of torque, making it not only fuel-efficient, but also magnificently powerful.

Inside, the ELR features stitched leather seats, burled-grain wood, and Cadillac CUE technology.

On the outside the car rests on 20” wheels, LED lighting, and a sharp design with hidden door handles to increase aerodynamics.

This new-offering from Cadillac is a perfect example of the “Art and Science” theme from Cadillac. The 2014 Cadillac ELR clearly has inspirations from both ultra-sophisticated science and gorgeous artistic design.
