The Future of Cadillac: What to Expect over the Next Four Years

Cadillac, one of the top premium brands in the world, is always looking to the future.

Despite awards and honors for vehicles like the 2013 ATS, Cadillac knows that offering premium vehicles across a diverse lineup is essential for global success.

So what does Cadillac have planned? Like all manufacturers, Cadillac only gives hints of future design styles, features, and formats, leaving us to put together the puzzle.

“Science and Technology” Driving Cadillac’s Future

The brand has at least four new nameplates coming in the next four years, including an electric car with Cadillac style, and is planning a redesign for one of its iconic vehicles.

The Yet Unnamed 2016 Cadillac Crossover:
Smaller SUVs and crossovers are essential for Cadillac, especially if it expects to compete with German luxury brands like BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

A replacement for the Cadillac SRX is expected to arrive for the 2016 model year as a direct competitor to the BMW 7-Series and Mecedes-Benz S-Class. One year later, Cadillac is expected to release two more all-new nameplates, one larger and one smaller than the crossover released for 2016.

New Electricity:
Electric vehicles have the stigma of boring tin boxes with batteries, but Cadillac is changing that with the 2014 ELR, which is expected to arrive in early 2014.

Merging style with sophisticated technology, the electrically powered ELR will be a perfect example of Cadillac’s “Art and Science” mantra that it wants to headline going in to future endeavors.

Redesigning a Large Icon:
By the spring of next year, we will be face-to-face with a redesigned 2015 Cadillac Escalade. The vehicle will get a complete makeover, with an exterior design that currently remains under wraps.

The large SUV is expected to ride on the same platform as GM’s trucks, with a 6.2L V8 likely providing the power. Escalade fans should look to a special event in New York City on Oct. 7th for the debut.

A Two-Door ATS:
To give a sportier car to the complete lineup, Cadillac is going to create a coupe version of the award-winning ATS. The two-door version is expected to arrive in 2015.
